About Olivia Vermeulen

The mezzo-soprano Olivia Vermeulen has established herself in recent years as a versatile international soloist. Alongside her critically acclaimed Concertgebouw debut in 2012, she has appeared at festivals such as the Opera Festival Munich, the Händel Festivals in Halle and Karlsruhe, the Rheingau Music Festival, Kissinger Sommer, Herrenchiemsee Festival, and Musikfest Berlin with such noted conductors as Peter Eötvös, Philippe Herreweghe, Marek Janowski, Lothar Zagrosek, Andrea Marcon, Alessandro de Marchi, Frans Brüggen, Emilio Pomàrico, Michael Schønwandt, and Enoch zu Guttenberg.

On invitation from Vladimir Jurowski, she opened the 2010/11 season at the Bolshoi Theater in Moskow in the title role in Ravel’s “L’enfant et les Sortiléges”, which was followed by her debut at the Nederlandse Opera in 2013. Current and recent engagements include the Second Lady in Mozart’s “Magic Flute” under Iván Fischer at the Budapest Festival and Lincoln Center, as well as Annio in “La clemenza di Tito” under Christopher Moulds in Moskow. She will be part of a CD production of Mozart’s C Minor Mass in Japan under Masaaki Suzuki and will sing Cherubino in a d’Aix-en-Provence production of “Le nozze di Figaro” under Andreas Spering. Olivia Vermeulen studied with Julie Kaufmann in Berlin. Numerous radio and CD recordings document the achievements of the young mezzo-soprano.
