About Daphne Evangelatos
Daphne Evangelatos comes from a famous family of artists in Athens. She studied music and languages in Athens, Vienna, and Munich. Her first engagement was at the Bayerische Staatsoper München, and following intermediate stops at the state theaters in Kassel and Karlsruhe she returned to join the Munich ensemble (1977–1995). During this time she began an active international career as an opera, concert, and lieder singer at the leading European opera houses and concert halls (including Berlin, Hamburg, Paris, Rome, London, Milan, Venice, Vienna, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Geneva, Frankfurt, Brussels, Dresden, Cologne, Naples, Düsseldorf, Bordeaux, Lisbon, Copenhagen) as well as in the United States and Japan and at international festivals such as Salzburg, Edinburgh, Aix-en-Provence, Munich, Athens, Epidaurus, Schleswig-Holstein, Schwetzingen, and at Musicades in Lyons). Her broad repertoire extends from the Baroque by way of Mozart, Bellini, Rossini, and Verdi and Wagner, Bizet, Berlioz, and Massenet to Strauss, Krenek, Henze, Britten, Nono, Penderecki, Menotti, and Hamel. Numerous video and sound recordings; master classes in Los Angeles, Copenhagen, Lyons, Bonn, and Athens. In 1993 she was appointed Professor of Vocal Studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München.Products
