About Vic Nees

Nees wurde 1636 als Sohn des Komponisten Staf Nees in Mechelen/Belgien geboren. Er studierte Komposition in Leuven, Antwerpen und Hamburg. Ab 1961 war Nees Programmleiter für Chormusik, ab 1970 Leiter des Radiochores am Flämischen Rundfunk in Brüssel tätig; daneben leitete er das Vokalensemble Philippus de Monte und den Kammerchor Brüssel. Nees erhielt zahlreiche Auszeichnungen: 1973 den Eugène-Baie-Preis für sein Gesamtschaffen als Chorkomponist, 1990 den AGEC-Preis (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Europäischer Chorverbände) und 1995 den Vondel-Preis der Alfred-Töpfer-Stiftung in Hamburg.
