About Toshimitsu Tanaka

Born in 1930. He is currently a Professor Emeritus at Kunitachi College of Music (Japan) and Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Kiev (Ukraina).
He has been awarded 16 prizes, e.g. the First Prize for Composition in the Music Competition of Japan, the Nakanishi Music Prize, the Art Festival Prizes of Ministry of Education of Japan, Award for Staged-Production Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Music by Government of Japan and the Second Prize in PRIX Italia etc.
In addition to "Sadro Concerto (Marimba concerto)" commissioned and premiered by Peter Sadro and Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, his many other works in every category of chamber music, percussion music and orchestra music, are performed internationally and have been featured in music Festivals and series in Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, Amsterdam, Kiev, Israel, and in several cities in the United States. 
And also his name can be found as a few Japanese Composers in international biographical dictionaries, for example, Baker's Biographical Dictionary of Musicians and Larousse de la Musique and so on. 

Main Works:
Four Requiems for Orchestra: "Requiem the Grave", "Gunzo", "PHATOS" and "maze, "Sadro Concerto" (Marimba Concerto), "String Quartet No. 1 & No. 2", "Suite for Marimba", "Persona" (Percussion Ensemble) etc.
