About Thomas Günther

Thomas Günther studied music in Essen and Berlin. He was a recipient of a prestigious scholarship from the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes (the German Academic Scholarship Foundation). He has given concerts and master classes in South America, Russia, and China. He has premiered compositions by numerous composers including Juan Allende-Blin, John Cage, and Dieter Schnebel. He has collaborated with the label Cybele Records on a regular basis. In 2017 he receive an ECHO Classic Prize in the category solo recording of the year, 20th and 21st century music. Since 2007, Thomas Günther has worked as a professor of piano at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen.
