About Melvyn Poore

Melvyn Poore, born 1951, in Alton, Hampshire, UK, learned to play the euphonium from the age of four. The piano followed soon after and at the age of twelve he opted for the tuba. He studied at the University of Birmingham, where he qualified as Master of Arts. He has worked as concert and workshop organizer, publisher, freelance composer/performer, tubist, composer-in-residence, research assistant, guest artist and professor in various contexts. Since 1993, he has been a member of the Ensemble musikFabrik, based in Cologne, Germany. With his own compositions and concert repertoire, Poore has performed and recorded worldwide. In the last few years, he has been active in the fi eld of education, particularly with respect to the development of a pedagogical programme for the Ensemble musikFabrik. www.poore.de
