About Holger Groschopp

Holger Groschopp was born in Berlin and studied at the Hochschule der Künste in his hometown with Georg Sava. Moreover, he studied composition with Isang Yun and Lied interpretation with Aribert Reimann and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. His varied concert activities have led him to most European countries, the Middle and Far East, and North and Latin America. He has appeared as soloist and chamber musician at important festivals (Berliner Festwochen, Osterfestspiele Salzburg, Cantiere internazionale d‘arte Montepulciano, Tongyeong International Music Festival, Festival dei due mondi Spoleto, Musikfest Berlin, and others), participated in many first performances (Henze, Reimann, Yun, Rihm, and others), and is a regular guest in recording studios. He is the recipient of several prizes, including at the Brahms Competition in Hamburg. He has long and close relationships with the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra as ensemble pianist, soloist and chamber musician. His series of recordings (nine thus far) of transcriptions and original works by Ferruccio Busoni, released on the Capriccio label, has garned him high praise from international critics. Also available are recordings of music by Isang Yun, John Adams, Ursula Mamlok, Walter Braunfels, and others. In 2022, the complete piano works by Simon Laks have been published by the Cybele label.
