About Claudia Boettcher

Claudia Böttcher was born in Frankfurt. She completed her concert and pedagogical vocal studies at the music Hochschule in Cologne, studying with Claudio Nicolai. With a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation, she extended her repertory through work with Elisabeth Schwarzkopf in Zürich and with Cornelius Reid in New York. In addition, she finished a Masters Degree in musicology, Romance Studies, and pedagogy at the university in Cologne. There followed an engagement as a lyric soprano at the opera in Düsseldorf/Duisburg and guest appearances at the opera in Hanover and the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Always devoted to German Lieder, she has given many recitals in Europe and South America. As a prizewinner in the Yehudi Menuhin Competition in Paris, she participated regularly in orchestral concerts under Menuhin’s direction at festivals in France and the Czech Republic. Today, she lives in Cologne where she currently teaches and devotes herself as a concert singer to contemporary music.
