Um 1879 veröffentlichte Franz Strauss (1822-1905) sein op. 13 im Münchner Halbreiter-Musikverlag, der vom Musikverlag Zimmermann 1927 aufgekauft wurde. Drei Jahrzehnte blieb das Werk unbeachtet, bis es 1957 wieder aufgelegt wurde. 1968 arrangierte Fried Walter eine Orchesterfassung mit Horn solo.
