Description

This work for solo soprano, solo cello and mixed chorus (SATB with divisi) was first performed at the University College Dublin Foundation Day celebration in November 2013, and later recorded by the Choral Scholars of UCD, directed by Desmond Early (SIGCD436). Dedicated to Dr Hugh Brady, former President of UCD, the musical painting of the text evokes the wonder and possibility of life. Whispering choral writing supports a dialogue between soprano and cello, with the reflective nature of water suggested in the homophonic conclusion of each verse.
