Description

To many violists, Garth Knox is known as the author of Viola Spaces (ED 20520), the groundbreaking compendium of modern playing techniques on the viola. Knox begins his Fuga libre in Baroque musical patterns based on Bach. In several attempts, the music gradually, yet increasingly moves away from the style of the beginning towards contemporary forms and sounds.
The performers can look forward to rewarding tasks in modern playing technique. The piece is perfect for both music lessons and concert performances.
Garth Knox is one of the most prominent violists of his generation and was a member of the Arditti Quartet for many years. Today, he gives concerts and teaches all over the world, always performing contemporary music works.
