Enchantment

Composed especially for the young violinist Shoshanah Sievers, and first performed by her with the London Mozart Players under the composer's baton at St Luke's Church, Grayshott, UK. Of five minutes' duration this charming miniature is cast in the style of an 18th-century Italian operatic aria. It was later reworked as a vocal aria with chorus for inclusion in One World, Jenkins's full-scale choral-orchestral 2022 work for peace. The solo violin original will make an attractive addition to concert programmes, its gentle and lilting rising phrases providing contrast with works of more energetic nature.
