Practising – or practise practising? Gerhard Mantel finds new, sometimes even unorthodox answers to the old question of how to practise. In this book the author describes the varied mental, psychological and physical aspects of the adventure of 'practising', while trying at the same time, in a widely diversified manner, to make individual instrumental problems accessible and thus available to the spontaneous artistic need of expression. In a new chapter of the revised and expanded edition, the author deals with the topic of 'linking': muscular or mental linking of two notes, spatial linking on the fingerboard, and linking inside the body.
