Spooky Piano Time

Pauline Hall and Kevin Wooding

This is my favourite of all the piano tutors, because I just love the animation throughout the book, illustrated by Chris Mould.  ‘Terrifying Pieces, Poems and Puzzles’ is the inscription on opening the book and the first piece to play is ‘The House on the Hill.’  The music should be performed ‘terrifyingly’ and is accompanied by a drawing of the spooky abode opposite.  The pieces are between grades prep to 2 and include an arrangement of the famous Chopin funeral march, along with dance themed tunes.  There is ‘Vampire Blues’, ‘John Brown’s Funeral March’ and the ‘Phantango!’ What is there not to enjoy about this gruesome volume of piano horrors?!

‘Hush! While I tell of the House on the Hill a
dark and unwholesome and scary abode.
Nobody lives there – nobody will,
but vampires and werewolves, black bats and a toad.’

100 Carols for Choirs

Edited and arranged by David Willcocks & John Rutter

100 Carols for Choirs is a classic that easily fulfils all carol-singing needs!

On more than one occasion, friends have approached me to ask last-minute if I would like to go carol-singing with them, and this is the book that makes it possible to do that on a whim. All the standard favourites are in there, as well as the odd more obscure one to vary things up.

Due to our Oxford University Press sale, this book is currently discounted, so I would recommend you get your Carols ready now!
