The Carnegie Hall Millennium Piano Book

The Carnegie Hall Millennium Piano Book contains ten newly commissioned works by an international roster of leading composers, written for pianists of intermediate through professional level. There has been much discussion about bringing twentieth century music to a broader concert-going audience, but relatively little attention has been paid to ensuring that young musicians have the opportunity to perform this music at an early stage in their education. The Millennium Piano Book seeks to provide pianists with repertoire by living composers that is accessible to their technical level, while being no less accomplished than the more difficult works of these composers. The companion CD, with beautiful performances of the works by pianist Ursula Oppens, provides an invaluable pedagogical tool for performers and teachers alike.
