Sonata

This Urtext Edition of Bartók's Sonata for Solo Violin, one of the most important solo string works of the 20th century, restores to print many details of Bartók's original manuscript, most significantly the passage in quarter-tones removed for the Sonata's first performance. The edition has been prepared by Peter Bartók and includes an extended preface and the reproduction of two letters from the composer to Yehudi Menuhin, for whom the work was written.
