Description
This 'Autumn Music' allows the performer great latitude within the notated music. It puts great demands on both the technique and the creativity of the pianist. The sound spectrum ranges from soft pianissimo to eruptive chord clusters. As a result, the listener perceives sound images of autumnal landscapes.
The piece is part of and now completes the cycle 'Die Jahreszeiten' [The Seasons], a collection of pieces for the piano with Zala ainava (Green Landscape), Balta ainava (White Landscape) and Pavasara muzika (Spring Music). As in all works by Vasks, nature in all its manifestations and the relationship of man to nature play a major role.
