Description
The Israeli composer Menachem Wiesenberg (* 1950) is renowned not only in his own country for his many commissioned compositions and performances in Europe and America. His works, most of which are written for orchestra and various different chamber ensembles, are notable for their colourful instrumentation and clearly delineated forms.
”Monodialogue” is dedicated to the viola player Tabea Zimmermann. The letters of her first name Ta-Be-A, translated into the German note names Ha (B), Be (Bb) and A, make up the central motif. The form and structure of this highly expressive one-movement piece constitute a musical reflection on the
relationship between these three notes.
