Stefano Gervasoni was born in 1962 in Bergamo, Italy. Studied with Luca Lombardi, Niccolò Castiglioni and Azio Corghi at the Conservatorio di Milano (1980–89), with György Ligeti (1990) and at IRCAM in Paris (1992–93). Instructor at the Darmstädter Ferienkurse (1998); taught composition at the conservatory in Bergamo (2001–05); professor of composition at the Conservatoire de Paris (since 2006). Awards include scholarships from the Académie musicale de Villecroze (1994–95), the Villa Medici in Rome (1995–96) and the DAAD in Berlin (2005).
