About Fritz Emonts

Fritz Emonts (b. 5 April 1920 in Breinig, near Aachen) studied the piano with Heinz Schüngeler from 1936 until 1939 in Hagen and Cologne. From 1945 until 1949 he worked as a freelance pianist and music teacher before teaching music at the Hagen Musikseminar from 1949 until 1963. From 1963 until 1986 he was Director of the Musikschule der Stadt Hagen which he founded and from 1965 until 1983 he was lecturer - from 1975, Professor - for piano and piano pedagogy at the Folkwang Hochschule für Musik in Essen. He is a co-writer of the chamber music and piano curriculum for German music schools.
